We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Child Care Director to manage the Mayo Clinic Employee Child Care Center! The center is licensed to serve 130 children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The center is open from 6:15 am to 7:45 pm, Monday through Friday. Our center leadership team consists of a Director, Assistant Director, Administrative Assistant working with a staff of 28 teachers. The center was designed and built to “bring the outdoors in” as it is surrounded by the beautiful Sonoran desert.

Qualifications: Requirements for the position include a degree in ECE, Child Development or related field (Bachelors degree is required; Masters degree is preferred), and a minimum of 5 years of documented professional development experience in a licensed child care facility. Proven strength required in written and oral communication skills required, and familiarity with corporate clients preferred. Experience with infants and toddlers and the NAEYC accreditation process preferred.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field required
  • 5+ years of documented professional experience working with young children (birth-6) in a licensed child care center or school, including time as a center administrator required
  • Strong knowledge and ability to lead staff in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Computer literacy required
  • Well versed in NAEYC accreditation and licensing standards
  • Familiarity with corporate clients strongly preferred

The Center is an Iowa QRS (Quality Rating System) Level 4 rated center providing quality care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.

The Director is responsible for providing leadership and administration of Mercy’s Child Development Center according to established policies and procedures provided by the State of Iowa and Mercy Medical Center. Will oversee and approve the Center’s curriculum. Also oversees activities of employees engaged in providing a developmental program within the resources available. Responsible for the development of positive relationships with parents, children, and families.

The successful candidate must have proven leadership and supervisory skills, be an effective team builder, be positive, enthusiastic and self-directed. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence change. Must have ability to analyze financial indicators and develop and maintain the department operating budget. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred. Minimum of four years management/leadership experience in an early childhood program or in a program serving children and families. Responsible for coaching and supervising approximately 30 staff members. Hospital Child Care Center management experience preferred.
